It's all about the

With the Jets having already clinched a playoff spot, the game against the Bills tomorrow means nothing. This gives head coach Rex Ryan and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, a chance to tweak the defense and get it back on track heading into the playoffs. What's wrong with the defense?? Pettine and Ryan seem to think that the unit has gotten away from the basics. They have gotten so wrapped up in the scheme that they forgot about the basics. A couple of players have stated that they think the defense has become more "read and react" and less attacking. An attacking defense is what Ryan is known for and if the players are not attacking then the scheme will fail.  I think the problem lies with the play calling. Ryan surrendered much of the defensive play calling to Pettine this year and it has become more predictable. Ryan is a head coach and he really should not be calling all of the plays, he needs to concentrate on the game and the situations that arise. The defense is in peril and I think Ryan needs to reclaim the play calling duties and let someone else handle the clock management and challenges(which he is horrible with.)
